TESTIMONIALS
Through the Adarsh charitable foundation, I have not only received an invaluable educational
opportunity, I also received the stepping stones for a fulfilling career in the field of optometry. I am truly
grateful for the scholarship opportunity. Now, I look forward to enriching the lives of my Belizean people
by providing much needed, primary eye care in a field that is lacking the requisite resources.
Jahira Vasquez
Optometrist - Belize Council for the Visually Impaired
Punta Gorda is the southern most part of Belize where a much needed optometrist was long awaited. Through the Adarsh Charitable foundation, I was able to pursue a technical course in optometry in Guatemala City for two and a half years which I am beyond grateful for. I am now the first optometrist in Punta Gorda where I am currently working and helping many people from Punta Gorda town and the rural villages with referrals and correcting refractive errors.

Optometrist - BCVI
It has been 4 years since this medical school journey has begun. The last two years have been spent doing in hospital work in different specialties which brought a new love for the practice and theory. The initial focus when I return to Belize will be pediatric screenings because this is where prevention starts. The knowledge I previously gained working with these visually impaired children fuel my need to go on in this career to one day see less children growing up with a once preventable blindness.
