Avani Singal

Board Member

Avani Singal, a 2023 graduate of Kentucky Country Day School epitomizes the school motto, a citizen, scholar, and steward. After graduation she plan to study Global Health Policy on a Pre-Med Track.

Avani has visited Belize and Guatemala numerous times and continues visit to serve in outreach clinics as well as work in orphanages. She aids in vision check and prepares patients for their visit with the doctors. Her fluency in Spanish is an asset as she can communicate with patients directly and is a translator for the visiting doctors. She has witnessed firsthand the inequities in healthcare and education. After her first trip to Belize and learning about lack of basic eye care needs such as glasses, she created a club to collect gently used eyeglasses at her school and local eye clinics in Louisville. Avani is an integral part in collecting hundreds of pairs of glasses over the years and she will pass this program to her sister as she transitions to college. 

She continues to earn many accolades including prestigious NSLI-Y award to study abroad in Korea. She is recipient of Jamie Parsley scholarship for exceptional leadership two years in a row, the Rotary Club Unsung Hero Award for her community work and Gold Presidential Award for her dedication to volunteering and earning more than hundred hours of community work during high school. 

She is involved with many local charitable foundations including LYPC, Norton Teen Board, Environmental Club, Social Justice Club at School, and she is a board member of Adarsh Charitable Foundation.
